Game backlog debate

This is kind of a direct response to Kotaku about their many many articles about Backlogs whether they are good, bad, or neutral about having them.

In the gaming community and pretty much almost any hobby there will be an excess of backlog. You don’t see people shaming others for their huge book shelves. Unless you have to read for a living no one has read every book in their book shelf entirely especially if you have a big collection.

And I get that this boarders on the Whataboutism but I think this is justified in we only see this debate in the gaming hobby.

Sneaker buying while recently been in the spotlight years ago was mainly positive even though it’s kind of playing on FOMO and driving up prices on limited products. And I’m not going to yuck anyone’s yum but why this difference when writing about video games?

But if you want a game and it’s on sale go ahead and buy it for later. You shouldn’t have to feel ashamed about this just like you wouldn’t with a book or another pair of pants.

I think we are letting too many people dictate what we like. While yes there is probably a limit you should keep in mind of. But keeping it in moderation seems like the safe bet.
